Comms

How to make a family comms plan on one index card

Names, numbers, two meeting spots, and who owns the radio. Tape a copy inside the go-bag.

  1. Write every household member and one out-of-area relative who will not be in the same storm.
  2. Pick a nearby meeting place (end of the block) and a far one (library, church, relative).
  3. Note how you get alerts: phone WEA, NOAA radio, NOAA weather radio tone.
  4. Put a paper copy in the document pouch and a photo of the card on each phone.
  5. Practice the text tree once a year. Kids should know the out-of-area number by heart.
